Ocean Surf Pet Agreement

Welcome to Ocean Surf, part of the York Beach Collection! We look forward to providing a memorable stay for you and your pet. To ensure the comfort and enjoyment of our guests, the following policies apply to your pet’s stay.


  • Pet Fee and Damages
  • Please be aware that a non-refundable pet fee of $75 per stay will be charged to your account prior to check-out to cover the cost of additional and necessary cleaning in preparation for our next guest. All guests who have a pet are required to pay with a credit card only and cash payments will not be accepted. We will be authorizing a separate additional $250 on your credit card to cover any loss or damages incurred by your pet during your stay. If damages exceed the additional authorization all guests are responsible for and will be charged the total cost of the repairs or the replacement of furnishings. Once you check out and the room has passed inspection by hotel management we will release the $250 authorization back to you. Any pet on property that has not been registered with the front desk will incur a charge of $500.
  • Acceptable Pets 
  • We welcome all well-mannered dogs. We reserve the right to require immediate removal of any pet that displays dangerous or unacceptable behavior, including, but not limited to, biting, excessive noise (such as barking), evidence of disease, or urination / defecation in public areas. No more than two (2) pets may occupy a guestroom. Each guest is responsible for all charges that relate to the removal of their pet, including but not limited to transportation and kennel charges. 
  • Pet-Friendly Areas
  • Pets are allowed only in the following areas: The pet designated area is located on the left side of the property just after the 2 story Longboard rooms, before the cottages. The grassy area is signed. For your convenience, a waste receptacle is located in the designated area. Please dispose of pet waste in the receptacle provided. 
  • Pet Control / Containment in Public Areas 
  • Pets must be leashed when they are in all common areas of the hotel, including the pet walking area. Guest must have control of their pet at all times in order to avoid any altercations with other pets or guests in the hotel. Furthermore, the hotel is not liable for any dangerous or unacceptable behavior displayed by a pet. Guest agrees to take FULL responsibility in the event of such an incident. 
  • Housekeeping 
  • For the safety and comfort of your pet, Housekeeping will enter your room only if: (a) your pet is not present, or (b) you are present and can monitor your pet. Housekeeping is not responsible for removal of waste from the rooms. We understand some guests don’t require full housekeeping or service during their stay, but for the safety of all of our guests and protection of the hotel we require that modified housekeeping services be performed every three days. Please ensure your pet is secured during that time. 
  • Loss of Income
  • Your hotel account will be charged for any loss of income due to customer satisfaction reductions caused by your pet. 
  • Release and Indemnification 
  • The guest agrees to release, defend, and indemnify Ocean Sands and Colwen Management from any and all claims or damages related to your pet or your pet’s stay at Ocean Sands including any claims by third-parties. 
  • Town of York Pet Policy
  • The Town of York Regulations state that all dogs must be under control at all times when off the owner’s property. From May 20 – September 20, dogs are prohibited from all beaches from 8 am until 6 pm daily. Leashed dogs are allowed before 8 am and after 6 pm. From sunrise to 8 am unleashed dogs are permitted as long as the dog is under voice control of its owner or responsible party.
